PointMintz is the booking platform that powers SMS reminders for the businesses you book with. The business you booked with is the message sender; PointMintz facilitates delivery on toll-free 866-682-7234. This page documents the full opt-in flow, the consent disclaimer shown at the time of phone-number collection, message frequency, sample messages, and how STOP and HELP work — for both the SMS program described below and our separately-consented WhatsApp messaging channel.

Two SMS programs — both opt-in

PointMintz operates two distinct SMS programs over the toll-free number. Customers must explicitly opt in to each. There are two ways to opt in: the booking form (marketing is optional and unchecked by default), or scanning a QR code / texting a keyword the business displays, which is a separate, immediate enrollment that a non-technical customer doesn't need to book an appointment to use. WhatsApp messaging is a separate program on a separate channel with its own consent, described in WhatsApp messaging consent below — it is not part of either SMS program here.

  • Transactional reminders (required to book)
Booking confirmation, appointment reminders, cancellation, reschedule, and check-in instructions. Up to 5 messages per appointment.
  • Marketing & promotions (optional)
Occasional deals, openings, and announcements from the business you booked with. Up to 2 messages per week. Off by default.
  • Carrier-compliance keywords (always available)
Reply STOP to opt out of all messages. Reply HELP to receive contact info. Reply START to opt back in.

Opt-in flow on the booking form

Consent is collected by the customer's direct booking interaction with the business — at the moment the phone number is provided, with the disclaimer visible above the submit button.

  1. Customer chooses a service and time on the business's booking page (e.g., businessname.pointmintz.com).
  2. Customer enters their mobile number and email at the contact step.
  3. The consent disclaimer is shown immediately above the “Confirm booking” button. The transactional checkbox is required to complete booking; the marketing checkbox is optional and unchecked by default.
  4. Customer reviews and clicks “Confirm booking”. The booking is recorded with the customer's explicit consent timestamp.
  5. The business sends transactional reminders via PointMintz over 866-682-7234 in line with the disclosed frequency.

I agree to receive transactional SMS about my appointment from Lumen Kids' Hair Salon sent through PointMintz on toll-free 866-682-7234. Up to 5 messages per appointment. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms. (Required to book.)

Send me occasional promotions from Lumen Kids' Hair Salon (optional, up to 2 messages per week, opt out anytime by replying STOP).

Opt-in by scanning a QR code or texting a keyword

Some businesses also display a sign or QR code in their location that lets a customer join without booking an appointment at all. This is a separate, equally explicit opt-in path — not a substitute for, or a lesser version of, the booking-form consent above.

  1. The business displays a sign or QR code with a keyword (for example, JOIN) and their PointMintz SMS number.
  2. Customer scans the QR code (which opens a pre-filled text message) or manually texts the keyword themselves to the business's number.
  3. PointMintz replies immediately: “You're on the VIP list. First deal drops soon. STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  4. Unlike the booking form, this single text enrolls the customer in both transactional reminders and marketing & promotions at once — there is no separate, unchecked-by-default marketing step here. The keyword itself is the explicit marketing consent.
  5. This channel only creates a new enrollment for phone numbers not already known to the business; an existing customer's number is not re-enrolled or duplicated.

Preview only — illustrative, not a live messaging channel.

“Text JOIN to 866-682-7234” — Customer texts JOIN (or scans the QR code, which does this automatically) and is opted in to both transactional and marketing SMS immediately. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Note: STOP, HELP, and START work exactly the same way for customers enrolled through this channel as they do for booking-form customers. The keyword shown is chosen per-business and can never be a carrier-compliance word like STOP, HELP, or START, so scanning the sign can never accidentally opt a customer out.

Verbatim consent disclaimer

This is the exact text shown to the customer at the time their phone number is collected:

“By providing your mobile number you agree to receive transactional SMS messages about your appointment from Lumen Kids' Hair Salon sent through PointMintz (toll-free 866-682-7234). Up to 5 messages per appointment. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.”

{Business Name} is replaced at render time with the actual booking business's name (e.g., “Mintz Cuts”), so the customer always sees the first-party sender clearly identified.

Sample messages

Examples of messages sent by businesses on PointMintz, modeled on Microsoft's TFV guideline format:

  • “Lumen Kids' Hair Salon: Your appointment is confirmed for Sat May 16 at 2:00 PM. Reply R to reschedule. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  • “Lumen Kids' Hair Salon: Reminder — appointment tomorrow at 2:00 PM. See you then. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  • “Lumen Kids' Hair Salon Promos: Walk-ins welcome Saturday 10–4. 2 msgs/week. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out.”

STOP, HELP, and START are always honored

The PointMintz inbound SMS handler responds to compliance keywords on every number, regardless of customer status. Tenant-owned numbers reply with the booking business name; platform-owned or shared PointMintz numbers keep the PointMintz brand and support contact.

  • STOP on a tenant-owned number
Reply: “You're unsubscribed from Lumen Kids' Hair Salon texts. Reply START to opt back in.” The customer is opted out of all SMS in our records.
  • HELP on a tenant-owned number
Reply: “Lumen Kids' Hair Salon: For help, call the business phone or email the business contact. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.”
  • START on a tenant-owned number
Reply: “Lumen Kids' Hair Salon SMS updates are back on. Reply BOOK, CONFIRM, CANCEL, RESCHEDULE, WAIT, or HERE anytime.”
  • Platform fallback
Platform-owned or shared PointMintz numbers keep the PointMintz brand, toll-free line, and support email in their compliance replies.
  • UNSUBSCRIBE
    Treated as STOP.

What we don't do

  • We do not share customer phone numbers with third parties for marketing.
  • We do not send SMS without explicit consent — either via the booking form or the QR code / text-to-join keyword.
  • We do not require marketing opt-in to complete a booking; marketing is a separate, optional checkbox.
  • We do not ignore STOP or HELP. The handler returns the correct branded compliance reply.

Note: PointMintz is the messaging facilitator; the booking business is the first-party sender. Both are identified clearly to the customer at consent time and in every message.
